Can anyone that's going to sema please upload the pics for all those of us that can't attend for geographical reasons? Cheers :-)

Probably right. I am still buying the top and probably front just want to see some details.

It is pretty impressive looking. The paint job is impeccable and the fitment of panels and trim is extremely well done. I only saw one little item that might lead one to think "kit". Considering all the beautiful paint at SEMA, the coupe doesn't look out of place at all.

thanks a heap for sharing the pics. Have you got any of the interior? especially the glass between the driver and the engine?

I like the front grill better with all the pieces cutout. Still not a big fan of that horizontal bar in the middle. It looks like they were trying to maintain the same center as the original S but change the sides and the two design languages don't quite mesh (lol...mesh).

I didn't get any shots of the interior but I will today. I, too, am interested in the way the interior panels, rocker panels inside, and glass separating the engine bay from passengers looks. I'll ask for the tour.

BTW: That Paganni in smokiness is eye candy for sure. There was a guy explaining some of the special features and mentioned that the engine bay bolts are custom made for the company from Titanium. They are supposed to have the companies logo on each one. Guess you should get something special for $2.3 mill.

Thanks,

Here are some more 818 shots of top and hatch insulation. It is hard to shoot the back inside window, the seats get in the way from that side.

I think Dave, Jim, and the rest of the team are pretty happy with the SEMA unvailing.

The C looked great in person. I looked it over really well. The paint looks much better in person. I talked with Jim for some time. Ecoboost, 818R and all.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I really think the "C" in the 818C might stand for "Convection Oven" after looking at the coupe in person. I guess time will tell, but it does look really good.

It will be very interesting to see how we get the fresh air flowing in that bay. I hope the roof scoop catches a good amount of air. We may need to mod the air intakes on the roof and side to get the needed flow. Time will tell

Having owned and tracked(track days/fun days, maybe im not as hard core as what most are doing?) a 91 turbo mr2 I'm still having trouble understanding all the heat/intercooler issues. Don't get me wrong I get that there is a good chance for heat soak issues, however, I also don't get what makes the 818 heat up any worse then any other mid engine turbo car. Is it just EJ motors heat up more?

It could simply be the difference between the development process/dollars/testing of a billion dollar OEM vs a low production volume inexpensive kit car. Toyota probably spent as much money on thermal design, analysis, and testing of the MR2 as FFR spent developing the entire 818.

C. Plavan might just be referring to the cabin getting hot too when he says convection oven.

I guess I assumed that it would be kinda like the GTM as far as interior getting hot. Is it common issue with the GTMs?

GTMs already have a full interior designed with ac being available from ffr I believe.

Best SEMA ever!
Got in Sunday mid day, picked up the rentacar and went straight to In N Out for a double double. So good! Got up early Monday to go tear some holes in the sky in an Extra 330 at skycombatace.com .

We did loops, spins, rolls, tumbles and finished with a low level run (<30 ft of the deck) back to the airport. Pulled 8.6 G (came close to going to sleep) and had a blast!

Tuesday opened up the show, the booth looked great and packed most of the day.
There was an original coupe there

Used to go to lots of big car shows (World of Wheels in the Southeast). It numbs you about what you want to see anymore. So going to SEMA is so over the top, you don't have to look hard to find something interesting. That's why I was surprised to be so impressed with the 818 Coupe. It held it's own in that very discriminating environment. Anyway here are some of my favorite non FFR pics.

Last group. BTW: pics of personality and drifting car. I got to weld at the welding stations of ESAB with the host of Extreme 4x4. He is really funny and talented at TIG welding. There were two other very talented professionals there. I got to MIG and TIG and MIG weld aluminum which I had not done before. One more Xmas list item. If that thing makes me weld that well, got to have it!

Hope you enjoyed. I sure did.
