Quick question for anyone who has done a Roadster donor build and used the Mustang 96-04 wiring harness. I am just about to part with my donor vehicle and realized that I didn't remove any of the electrics in the doors for the lock, windows or mirrors.

Can someone advise if any on this is needed, is there any anti theft type controls in there that may cause an issue later on ?

Thanks in advance

I'm doing a MK4 build with a 03 GT. I believe that 99-04 mustangs will need instrument cluster, ignition cylinder and PATS module in column. Pre-99 just need just the ignition cylinder and pats module.

Look into the Sniper Special Forces (model SP-5000) tuning software. It will allow you to do an EGR delete, rear O2 sensor delete, undo the speed limiter, set a higher redline, delete the PATS system, and much more than the other tuners out there (sct, bama, etc). This way you don't need to hide the mustang's instrument cluster dehind the dash. Price is around $350 plus shipping. We bought ours from Brothers Performance out of Florida.

I have the 04 Manual that has Color Wiring Diagrams if you need them. I went with an SCT X4 Progammer. It's possible to eliminate the PATS (and 2 of the Oxygen Senors). I cut all the Power Windows, Locks, Stereo and other stuff you don't need. You can cut close to half out.

***Be Sure to get the CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module). You'll need it!

I used an 04 Mach 1 as a donor and found no need for the door wiring.

I have an electrical background and some experience with automotive electrical systems, so my original intent was to do that work myself. I test fit the donor harnesses in the Mark IV chassis and didn't like what I saw in terms of fit, so I boxed up the whole mess, along with the ECU and sent it to Art Cuesta along with instructions concerning PATS, secondary oxygen sensors, evap canister, EGR, etc.. Art returned the fully tested engine harness & ECU and a new chassis harness (fully labeled) that fit the car perfectly. The engine fired up on the first try and has given me flawless service ever since.

I know a person that did not finish his build because he could not get past the wiring problems and I have seen many builds with excess wiring crammed under the hood and up under the dash. Having the work done professionally is expensive, but worth considering. Good luck.

Ok... Thanks ! I had looked at the manual and the FFR Build Manual and didn't see anything, so I thought it was safe that I didn't remove the door wiring. It was just a bit of last minute panic when the remainder of the car was getting picked up yesterday
