Steering Wheel--Opinions Please

I purchased the wood steering wheel pictured below largely because of its size--14 inches (365mm), the same size as the stock WRX wheel. It is also from NRG, so the horn button logo matches that on my NRG seats. My wife and sons do not think the classic wood wheel is a good match for the modern, sleek 818, and they suggest I change it.

I see my choices as:

1. Stay with the wood wheel.
2. Cover the wood wheel with a black leather cover. This way, I would have a large wheel with the NRG logo, but in a matching color.
3. Pony up for the FFR 12 inch wheel.

By the way, I am using the FFR hub adapter. It fits over the Subaru clockwork connector so that (i) the horn can be wired in easily and (ii) the turn signal cancel works. I did need to do some trimming for the clockwork connector to make it fit.

I think the wood is best for the Cobra but the 818 is more current, so I have the FFR leather wheel in my 818. But, now's a good time to score points and say thanks to your wife for the guidance!

I have always liked the 350mm steering wheels they aren't to small and not to large. To small on a car with no power steering can be a pain in the butt. Momo wheel if you want to spend the money on it I have always loves the quality compared to any other. However, some of the ebay ones out there aren't that bad. I have an ebay wheel on my 944. I autox with it love it its very sturdy and does not bend like people claim they do it was $25. Avoid suede kinds they just don't last.

Thanks for your comments. On reflection, I agree that a wood wheel is better suited to the Cobra. I still like the idea of the larger wheel, so I bought a $6 black wheel cover to see if a cover could be a compromise. The one shown below looks sloppy and inexpensive. I think I could make a real leather one look better, but you can get the idea of a covered wheel.

Swap it out, it looks completely out of place. There are quite a few deals on steering wheels now. Something black in the center and the rim too... JMHO

Not a fan of the wooden steering wheel. NRG makes some other dope designs... and they aren't too expensive IMHO.
