I used the search to find my awnser to no avail so I'm hoping that someone could chime in and help me out with this question. I'm trying to install spools from a Impreza wagon behind the firewall. The instructions I have are for the old style firewall and gas tank and I can't find an update that addresses this issue. My problem is that the bracket to mount the spool sit flush with the firewall and when I try to mount up the spool and bolt it up it interferes with a firewall. I'm kind of worried about blasting a hole and having an exposed bolt on the inside. Is this the only solution. I'm not installing a 5 point harness what did other people do? I saw that somebody had mounted the spool on the frame where the adjustable control arm connects. Is this the only solution?

Pete, check out the earliest buld by Eric Treves, he used the wagon belts and put them on the other side of the firewall. (the Flash build thread)

I gave up on my sedan belts after the 3rd time that the locked up! I went to the FFR harness bar (requires cutting, almost 1.5 inches too long...) and a harness from Scroth... stop by and check them out! :)
