Short background I come from the MR2 world of cars and frankly I love the cockpit style interior were the shifter is right at your hand and not on the floor. I am way to excited for my 818c to come (2weeks) so want to know measurements now.... I am wondering if anyone can tell me the measurements of the center console area(room between the seats). I am looking for a center console I can buy from another car and possibly find a way to adapt it into the 818 to build a more cockpit like interior. At the moment I really like the FR-S center console, but there are a few others. So maybe getting one of those and raising it up high enough might work!

Darn had a feeling this would be the answer. I am using sparco EVO seats. Sounds like I may just have to hold out then.

Perfect that should be enough to help me narrow down my search. Bob_n_Cincy thanks for the offer just got what I needed above. Time to go measure my buddies FR-S.

You might consider re-purposing the Subaru donor console (all or part).

I am not using a donor. I also am not a fan of the Subaru center console. I want a solid flat surface vs how they configure the impreza. The Impreza won't give the cockpit feel or shifting. The center console needs to be more flat and single surface. I should know more on the FR-S measurements here in a few hours though. My plan it to take that console and raise it up so it is more on the height of an MR2 console height.
Update:
FR-S/BRZ console is 7.5in between the seats tapering up by the shifter to 8in. Based on what is needed a 5.5in console area this probably wont work unless OEM seats are a lot wider compared to a sparco seat. However, with some modding you could probably get it to work out and look good I am going to give it a shot see what happens.
