Awesome deal Mike. Making a one stop shop to get all you need is a great idea versus trying to figure out what you need and where to get it.

Mike,
What is a rough estimate for that package, but swapping out the Tremec for an AODE with controller and torque converter?
Best,
Brian

With that one simple question, you have crystalized how much I need to learn. I did not know that we could mate an AOD to a Coyote; I just thought that the newer tech would be required.
The more electronics installed in the car, the ore difficult it is to install/maintain. An AOD certainly would be easier and less expensive to install/maintain (but with an AODE and newer, I can fantasize about paddle shifters). Ultimately, so long as my wife gets to play with PRNDL and I get to say VROOM VROOM, I am flexible re: AOD and AODE.
[EDIT: And, apparently I just noticed that I have two screen names, both using the same pun (forgot I did that a while ago). I will stick with just this name to avoid confusing folks. Sorry about that].

I'm sure Mike knows the details, but just be aware the Coyote crate motor comes from the factory in a manual transmission configuration (i.e. clutch) and the Ford Racing crate control pack PCM contains no functionality for controlling an automatic transmission. A torque converter can be retrofitted and the transmission needs to have a standalone controller. Has been done, but just be aware.
Also, FWIW, the part number listed for Coyote motor is the 2011-2014 model. The 2015-2016 Mustang Coyote motor is part number M-6007-M50A. It also takes only the newest control pack part number M-6017-504V. The jury is still out on whether the 2015-2016 setup needs the $175 speed dial module. Going through that right now with my build.

Has anyone considered pairing the Coyote with a more modern slush box - 4R70 or 6R80? Are there any technical issues I should be aware of? I'm getting ready to order my kit and was puzzling over driveshaft configurations for such a "non-standard" approach. May just have to go custom and delete the driveshaft from the kit.

Hey Mike, your descriptions says Ford Racing 2015 Mustang Coyote M-6007-M50 engine. Isn't the 2015 crate engine's part number M-6007-M50A?
Old 2011-2014 M-6007-M50: http://fordperformanceracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=11829
New 2015 M-6007-M50A: http://fordperformanceracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=25177
They both require different control packs, and I already have my control pack that fits the earlier Coyote engines... can you still get the earlier M-6007-M50 Coyotes? I'd hate to have to buy another control pack and I know the earlier M-6007-M50 Coyote's are going for less $$ these days if you find anyone with them in stock.

Chris,
I read that they are both available but the older one is not longer being made thus subject to existing in the pipeline quantities. If you want one of the older ones to match your existing controls pack you may need to move sooner than later....

Thanks Kevin. I'm planning a wedding for next year so unfortunately for the Roadster it is on the back burner. Guess I'll have to play the cards I'm dealt when the time comes.

Hi Brian,
I had thought the early 90's 4.6 Crown Vic and Lincolns used an AOD.
My mistake....
