Anyone have an extra 2002-2003 5MT WRX trans wiring harness, not sure if any other years are the same, but if they are I would take that as well. Looked all over ebay no luck lots of Autos though. Also if anyone has any of the 3 sensors(VSS,neutral and reverse) I may need those as well :D. I am using a 98 forester 5mt so there are a few sensors that look like they may be different I know the VSS is not sure about the others... I found that the 98-99 trans will mount up and works with a 2006 WRX clutch.

Send Brian at iWire a message. He might have one and could help confirm which harness would work with sensors.

Redfogo- are you building an NA 818? A turbo 818, even at stock power is too much for a 98-99 Forester 5MT, I think.

As for wiring, check your local junkyard, perhaps?

My yards never has 2002 manuals sadly :/ and a 98 forester 5mt is geared different should be no problem. I'm running it on a ej207. On the plus side it has a 4.11 final drive. The only thing that couldn't handle the power would be the stock clutch and by using a 2006+ clutch and flywheel you help solve that one. I could be wrong but based on what I read there really isn't much of a strength difference between 5MTs unless your looking into the 5pseed STI 5mt.

Link below for some peoples opinion on the 2.5rs and WRX trans. The 98-2001 2.5rs and forester have the same 5mt gearing since they both used the EJ25.

I recently made my own harness. It's easy to do with the wiring diagram and some weatherpack connectors. You can get the neutral and reverse sensors from the dealer; I don't think they are very expensive. If you don't have the connectors that plug into them, just cut the connector off the ends of them and add weatherpack connectors or something similar.

This was going to be my alternative plan the only issue would be the VSS sensor wiring since the sensor has no wiring like the other two(is male end so it needs a female connector) . What did you do about that?

Found the right thread just needed to look harder for anyone who might need this http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2378904. All neutral switches are the same up till 2005, they just have different connectors. All backup switches are the same, they just have different connectors. VSS is different you will need a 3wire connector if you plan to move to 2002+

My transmission came from my donor car so it had all the connectors. But it also had a very short sub harness that plugged into those connectors and terminated into other connectors that yet another harness plugged into. All the transmission wires have to be greatly extended due to 818's very rearward transmission position so I actually cut the secondary harness off, spliced wires in, and extended those wires all the way to the cabin and terminated them in a 10-pin metripack connector. But all that means I did have the connectors that plug directly into the sensors, including the speed sensor. You will definitely need that.

Here is one for a six speed. Maybe the sensor connectors for the three 5 speed sensors are the same? http://www.ebay.com/itm/04-07-SUBARU-WRX-STI-OEM-6-SPEED-TRANSMISSION-WIRING-HARNESS-DCCD-ASSEMBLY-/252110525845?hash=item3ab2f55595&vxp=mtr

The other option would be to go into the NASIOC classifieds under the whole-car-part-out section and start messaging people asking them for the transmission wiring harness. It's pretty short so shouldn't be a big deal for someone to provide. Could get the sensors with it maybe, though they may want to keep those and include them in the sale of the full transmission unless the transmission is shot.

I purchased the MapDCCD vss module for my speed signal. Then you don't have to use the tranny speed fear.

Found what I needed! Found a junk yard who just got a bad front end collision 2002 2.5rs. Just need to order the VSS sensor.

Read my comment above about the vss.

The cost of a speed sensor off rockauto or a used one is cheaper then the MapDCCD. And I have fully deleted ABS from my harness so all of those connections are long gone :D.
