View Full Version : Insulation/sound proof mat
Hello, I'm about to purchase some Hushmat and wanted to know if anyone has used this, how much to get and if it helped considerably with heat insulation in the footboxes. I already got the footbox vent kit from cobra earl but want to double up the comfort level of my delicate calves and feet😜 I'm operating under the assumption that the noise suppression aspect to it is irrelevant given the nature of a topless roadster with a B303 cam screaming out of the sidepipes.

I am interested too.
I just finished installing Cobra Earl's kit. Hardest part is knowing best place to vent on the DS.

I'm using it on my current build. The following link will take you to the page that shows the install:

It went on pretty easy and the panels have a nice "thunk" sound now instead of sounding tinny. It took more to do the cockpit than I thought it would. I bought a box of 30 sheets and I only have 6 left over.

I added Dynaliner over the insulation, but just in to floor area in the foot wells. Very easy to work with, oil and water proof so it won't hold moisture if the interior gets wet. It is self adhesive, and sticks great.
It gives the supplied carpeting a plush feel, and some forgiveness, so it doesn't pull at the carpet seams, when people are getting in and out, causing seams to open up. I'd seen that before on another builders roadster, that's what gave me the idea of using it. It blocks out road noise very well, and although it's only on the floor in my car, I know it would work well at reducing cockpit heat.
You can buy it in different thickness's, I used the 1/2" on the floor, but the thinner one would probably work great on the foot box sides, tranny tunnel, rear bulkhead, etc.

It felt to me that the "Hushmat" was getting soft under foot in the foot box. I installed aluminum diamond plate on top of the insulation so now it matches my dead pedal. I don't necessarily like the cushion of carpet under my heel so this was good for me. If I was using carpet, I would have put a layer of aluminum sheet under the carpet between it and the insulation. I think that would have helped to mitigate any issues there.
Good luck,
WEK.
