I am building one of the new red 818s and I have the head light bucket and headlight mounted and it all sits in the bumper great nice and tight along the front lower edge (1/8" gap) but I notice when the fender is installed it has alot of extra material along the edge that sits against the headlight. and it sits up. how much material di you guys have to remove to get it down flush? looks like I have 1/2" to remove. some pictures I have seen of finished cars the front edge of the fender to the headlight is way thinner than mine.

I tried to install everything the exact same way as per Bobs video but it would not even come close to all going together. I am guessing they lfe extra material to allow it to be ground down to a custom fit?

I sanded my headlight eyelids down to about 1/4". At first I scribed a line at 1/2" and used a 1.5" drum sander to go to the line, but it still didn't fit right, so I did it again to get thinner. Go slow and try the fit frequently because yours may be different, of course.

I ended up lowering the headlight buckets to make room for the fenders. And in hindsight, I would have raised the front bumper for ground clearance.

Don't trim the fiberglass. If you slide the head lights out to the sides a little the gap will close. I had to cut a small notch in the bucket to do it but it saved me a lot of fiberglass trimming. I'll look around to see if I have pics.
