I may or may not be building an MK4 in the relative near future. I am curious about A/C systems. I would appreciate any opinions on what some have used and installed. Ease of install, how well it fits, etc. Thanks.

I think Whitbey sells a system, Southernrods.com makes several universal kits, Vintage air makes a couple. I have a super frost pro kit from southern rods, it's pretty compact, but still would require firewall mods to fit. I am just installing a heater in my MKIV this time, but I think this unit would fit, it requires 8" x 8" x 18" long.

I would really appreciate if more could respond to this post. I am looking for kits that were made to fit the MK4 not universal ones. Thanks.:)

Thanks. Would the stock 5.0 fuel injected intake work with it? Not sure how much space it takes up on the firewall.

The housing fits under the body on the passenger side of the firewall, I don't see the intake being a problem. I'm sure Richard would know for sure.

Here's a couple of photos. The hose and valve are for the heat.

I got the one Whitby used to sell by Vintage Air. My understanding is they don't make them anymore. Fit and works great in my MKIV. Call Whitby and see what the story is.
