Sprayed earlier this week. This was in booth still. It's a bit lighter in sunlight but there pics are closest to what it looks like I could get . Picked up today and started color sanding. (Sorry I don't post here much. Need to be more regular)

Oh wow! I think I just found my color. Silly question though, No stripes? would you paint the stripe first or after the base color is down? I only ask because I have completely no idea about the painting process.

Thanks everyone. It will be awhile before I put the body back on but I will certainly post pictures.

Everyone dies it different. My last one was candy red. I laid the base coat on then taped off the stripes and laid the colored clear. I helped a buddy and we painted his white stripes on top of the blue.

I was going to put satin black vinyl stripes on this one but I'm not certain now. I didn't want to paint satin on top of the clear coat (and my buddy owns a vinyl shop so was gonna give him and little advertisement) but after seeing it I'm unsure now. I have plenty time to think.

Ghosted stripes in white, silver, or black would look mighty slick.

Looks great. I love the color. I was wondering how to do the same thing. I just figured I'd have to paint satin over the clear. I hadn't thought about doing vinyl. I think either way will look great. Can't wait to see the outcome.

JMHO, worth exactly what you paid for it but I vote NO STRIPES. Great color; looking forward to seeing it all together and outside :)

How about some vinyl rookie stripes. I wouldn't want to cover too much of that paint job. It too pretty!

WEK.

What exactly is a rookie stripe?

Thanks everyone!

Edit: never mind. Figured it out. While that's a very good idea, that is one place I really don't want stripes. I don't want to interfere with how liquid the curves of the fenders really look in this paint and color.

Absolutely beautiful. Great color for the curvy body. It looks like a cobra made of polished hematite.

Great job!

Someone on the other forum called it liquid graphite, and I completely agree! The color is outrageous.

As far as stripes, I can't see covering up that awesome paint! If anything I would maybe consider the vinyl stripes on the center of the car, but just for a change of pace, not for a permanent solution; that color is just way too awesome. My opinion of course...

I really like your choice, and I look forward to seeing some outside pictures! Congratulations on your progress.

Regards,

Steve

Thanks!

Hopefully I'll get some outside shots tomorrow or next day. Finished the 3000 grit wet sand today and got about half of it done with mcguires medium cut cleaner. Coming nice. I hope the swirl remover does as much as the medium cut did. If so, it's gonna be slick as greased owl poop. Then I'm gonna follow with machine glaze before letting it sit for awhile to finish curing before I wax it. We shall see tomorrow. I have a high speed buffer but I'm scared to use it so I'm using my random orbital porter cable polisher. Hope I'm doing this right hahaha!

I have to say I'm getting about sick of rubbing on this thing (I did all my own body work and primer filling and slicking).

She's polishing up purdy. Gonna finish the last step tomorrow and clean the chassis of body work dust and get to final assembly.

I would def go no stripes on that one. Yeah, liquid graphite still applies.

Thanks all.

Decided I'm going to put it together with no stripes. I can take windshield off and add them later. My only fear is the rivets that'll be in the hood scoop. I want them on top of any stripes so if I add later I'll have to drill many of them out, stripe it and put them back. The drilling out part pm the paint scares me but I think lots of tape and care and should be ok.

You don't have to use rivets for the hood scoop.

I know there are options. I like the exposed rivet look. I considered small allen button head screws.

For those that wanted to see it outside. Finished polishing this morning.
