I am sure someone will chime in but I know it has been done. I think it just needed to be clocked a little differently if I remember correctly

Yes. You'll have to reclock it either down to clear the pan, or I think someone mounted it with the motor vertical.

Good. Thanks for the tips. Looks like I may want to paint the steel cover on the ps motor too!

Vertical mount - I am using stock exhaust manifolds - Headers may not work.
I did not want the steering motor hanging below the frame.

That brings up another question! Did you need to modify the exhaust to fit up to the stock manifolds? Not sure why I would need headers if the stock ones fit.

When I bought my kit - there was no option to connect an LS to the supplied exhaust system. They were "working" on it using shorty headers at the time.
Since my crate motor came with the manifolds I left them on and had a local exhaust shop tie them in to the FFR exhaust.
I'm sure I'm leaving some power on the table but I'll worry about that later.
Also - the good news is the motor is very quiet through the stock manifolds. The electric fan is 2X as loud at idle.
don't have feedback on the road noise yet - hopefully this spring!
