I'm planning my engine for my MkIV roadster build. Going with a Dart 351w block stroked to 427ci. I'm given to understand that a front sump oil pan fits well with the chassis. Does anyone know how well other types of oil pans fit? For example, if I went with a rear or double sump racing pan?
Thanks as always.

My rear sump pan fits well as well as an Aviad front sump cobra pan. I deal in both.

Thanks. Is there any benefit to a rear sump pan over front sump for predominantly street use?

Either front or rear will fit in the Roadster. The engine sits well behind any obstacles around the oil pan. For street driving, as long as properly baffled to keep oil around the pickup, either front or rear is fine. I don't there's any advantage either way. Just keep the overall height of the pan at 7.5 inch max so it doesn't hang below the frame rails, and pick whatever you like best.

The big issue is to not get below the frame rails. Gordon's pan will take care of it.
There are theories both ways. Go with a rear sump because under acceleration is when you need the oil the most and that is where it will be headed. But then the pickup is further away from the pump so you want a front sump. The trap doors in the sump take care of that one. A pan like Gordon's designed for road racing will take care of it all.
