It's true, the doors don't open very wide before they contact the fender. There's enough space to get in and out for me, but it would be nice to have a little more room. How wide do yours open?

The pieces FFR sends with the kit to limit the door range didn't work for me. I had to use wayne's mod that dougkirkbride is talking about.

I did not trim my fenders. I used FFR door stops.
My side sail are about 3/8" back.
Here is a pictures of my doors open and it still has about 3/8" clearance.
I have no Idea how many inches this is. I would measure door opening in degrees.

I was photo bombing Jeff Kleiner's cobra.

You are welcome to stop by anytime.
I'm hoping to get registered this week. Maybe I'll go for a ride and stop by and visit you.

Your side sails are 3/8" farther back than specified in the manual? Does that lead to any other issues? If not, it seems like they should change that in the manual.

I actually don't mind the travel I have with my doors, but if shifting the side sails back gives more range and doesn't cause any other problems, then I might move them.

There are both advantages and disadvantages to any mod you do to the car.
Moving side sails back a little:
Good:
More room for the door.
Clearance between humps and roll bar.
Better rear tire centered in body
Room for a rear radiator.
Better fender, windshield, door, hood interface.
Bad:
striker angle bracket doesn't fit well. (fixed)
Alum. by striker bracket doesn't well. (fixed)
Side sail to fender interface not good. (to be fixed)
