Ambient Temperature Display

Has anyone connected the ambient temperature display? I deleted this from my wiring harness, but am now rethinking my decision since the display shows "--- F" even with its bulb removed. As I read the wiring diagram, I should be able to connect the sensor, which I think I have, directly to the cluster. Is this correct?

Yes, it's just two wires. I think it might have some splices into other parts of the harness though so double check the wiring diagram.

It's just a 2.5 kohm thermistor connected to the BP wire on the cluster (02) and ground. You can place the sensor or equivalent thermistor anywhere you want to measure temp.
