I noticed that TCI has a 5r55 to small block adapter. Will this configuration fit in the 33? 5 speeds would be nice.

I don't have a '33, but I do have a 5R55S on the shop floor (going into our '68 Mustang) if you need measurements...

Dennis - not sure since we haven't tried. If you had an opportunity to put one next an AOD, which we know works, it would be a helpful comparison. My guess is that its bigger, if its got an extra gear, and that may make it too big to fit under the trans tunnel without modification.

These are the dimensions from the TCI Auto site.
A: overall length
B:Bell housing to shaft housing
C:Bell housing to crossmember bolt holes
D: bolt hole spacing
E:width of bell housing.

Jason: If Mustang Man were to measure his 5r55 and get the pan to top dimension will that give you enough info?

Sitting on the floor of our shop the 5R55S measures out as follows:

Floor to top of bellhousing-18"
Floor to top of trans (slopes rearward)- 14" at front, 12" at rear

HTH...
