Ok, I am going thru my wiring, and I have found a white connector that has 18 sockets on it.

After checking the wiring diagrams, it is connector B93 from the 2004 Wrx wiring.

The diagrams say it connects to Security Control module.

I am pretty sure I threw nothing away from the donor, but I cannot seem to find whatever black box this connector was connected to.

I have located the other box that is called Keyless Entry Control module and that has another connector with 18 on it, but the wires are different on that one.

If I have this correct, how important is the Security Control Module to getting the car running?

I am not too far into getting the car running as I just need to install the firewall, shifter, emergency brake and seats. Oh and bleed the clutch! Put that off, as I could not get it bled yet.

Anyway, anyone have any input on if I need this black box?

Thanks,
Rob

If you are talking about the "Body Integrated Controller" then I'm about positive you need that because it's part of the immobilizer system. And it has to be matched to your ECU and Keyless Entry unit.

Rob, I dieted an 02 harness, which I think is similar to the 04. I deleted the security control module and keyless entry module (among other things) and the car starts just fine. I believe the immobilizer was incorporated from 05 to 07.

Ah ok, I'm dealing with an 07 so not sure how far back the immobilizer system was used.

This is correct. I dieted a 2004 harness and deleted the security control module. You just need to jumper a wire somewhere (white/black to white/red). Since you are referencing connector numbers, I assume you have the full wiring diagram. Take a look at the "Starter System" section (Chapter 42, page WI-162) and you will be able to see the "Short connector" that you effectively need to create. This bypasses all the features of the "Interrupt Relay" at B59, which you will also be able to delete.

Excellent!

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, I have all the pdf files that show everything for the 2004 which have been very valuable. Without it I would have been lost in a lot of ways with this build.

I will look up that section and adjust my wiring.
