I'm a few weeks into my Factory Five MK4 driving experience and wanted to share a few thoughts.
As most of you can attest, these things become a labor of love with roots going back decades. By that I mean, think back to the first time you saw an AC Cobra in the flesh and the excitement it generated. It was a beast you had to have, of course you were too young and didn't have the money. By the time you did, the cost was crazy high for a real one.
Along comes Factory Five Racing with this tremendous concept. Not an AC Cobra body on a WV chassis but a real tubular frame with racing inspired design. Thing is, by now you're married with kids and don't have the time or the extra coin. But then one day the boys are out of school, no more sporting events, no more school functions, no more music lessons and so on. Those busy evenings have morphed into relaxing in the old easy chair with a martini watching whatever sports are available or Law and Order re-runs. One night you say to your wife, "honey…I can sit around here drinking martinis and watch TV or build myself a Factory Five". And so it begins…
Four years later its completed, although I don't think it'll ever be "finished".
Special thanks of course to my wife and boys (young men) for all the help, support and patience. Also to Jeff Kleiner for the paint and answering my numerous questions along the way. While I'm not a regular poster, these forums are a wealth of knowledge.
I'll work on some better pictures when I'm not too busy driving the thing.
