That would be insane - putting a Chevy engine in a 33 Ford Hot Rod.

I'm not really up to speed on motors, but why spend $30K for a 550 hp motor when you can get a 540 hp Ford crate motor for a third of that? I imagine you have good reasons, and I'm just curious what those might be.

Thanks,

A COPO would just be a waste of money, unless you just want bragging rights.

As far as a Chevy or Ford engine that is one of technological advanced engines, EFI etc., another words pretty much engines made within the last 20-25 yr.s, doesn't really matter. Both are very good.

Now if you are talking about old school engines before they came so technologically advaned, I would say a Chevy before a Ford, unless you are just a die hard Ford fan. Here is why. There are by far more aftermarket parts for an "old school" Chevy then a Ford especially when it comes to intake setups. Not to mention aftermarket parts for a chevy are less expensive then a Ford, for the most part.

The small block Chevy whether it be the 283, 302, 327, and 350 mostly from the early mid '60s thru about mid to late '80s are all the same block, just with different internal parts. The heads can be interchanged between blocks as well as intake. Where as for a Ford engine basically of the same time period, the blocks were different as well as the heads and intake, you couldn't just change heads, intake between blocks. This is one of the main reason why parts for the old Ford engines are more expensive then the Chevys.

If you do a seach on intake manifolds for an older Ford, say for 2 barrel carburetor setup, whether it be a 2x3, 2x4, or 2x6, more stuff will come up than a Ford. Check out the difference for a 6-71 blower setup for a Chevy and a Ford, by far more selection for the Chevy than the Ford, plus cheaper.

Only engine I would go for in the sense of keeping everything Ford would be a Flathead, but they are getting harder to get and more expensive. Don't get me wrong I like Ford 302s and 351s a lot, but when it comes to doing a more nostalgic look of the '50s and '60s there are more options for the Chevy than the Ford. People who are I would say 40+ more than likely know this. Also those who follow the hot rod history of '32-'34 fords, know that there are more chevy engines in those then Ford engines, mostly due to the availability of chevy parts and the price.

You're building a Hot Rod and an 818 (with an AMG engine)? You have too much time on your hands!

I bought an lsx Callie's ultra magnum crank, eagle rods Wiesco pistons, even heads and a twin 6266 turbo and made 1256/1504 to the wheels in my 04 GTO. Went with a 350 sbc on the 33
