Greetings,

This weekend i decided to install my engine. I ran into a snag. I have mated my Tremec TKO 600 to my Ford 302 engine. In my parts I do not see a cover for the fly wheel to protect the inside of the bell housing. (Please see picture attached) Yes I know my starter with cover some of the opening, I am concerned about the rest.

My question, is there a cover I need? Does anyone know what it is called. And most importanly, can this cover be installed after the engine goes in? I would rather not wait until next week to get this part of the project going.

Many thanks
Kevin

There is a heavy sheet metal plate that installs between the block and bellhousing which must go into place prior to the flywheel.

Kevin,

As Jeff said you'll need to remove clutch and flywheel and install one of these, it rests on a couple dowel pins and is sandwiched between block and bellhousiing. About a $25 item on e-bay This fits 79-95 302

And its not that heavy; has plenty of flex.

As posted on the other forum, and agreeing with what others have posted: Like this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fms-m-7007-b/overview/ As Jeff said, goes on before the flywheel:
