So I purchased a pair of the kirkey intermediate road race seats and I got a package of nuts bolts and washers to install them.
How is everyone mounting these seats? The 818 provided brackets won't work at all.
Are you just drilling through the bottom of the seat and frame and then attaching the bolts?

Here (http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?13414-Frank-s-818R-build&p=173018&viewfull=1#post173018) is what I did. It works great on track, and feels robust. The stock solution sucks. These are the Kirkey seat brackets that I got from Summit.

Also, I recommend NOT doing what I did and mounting the seat brackets before you install the floor (but perhaps after you mark up the floor for measurements on where to drill, like I did here (http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?13414-Frank-s-818R-build&p=161464&viewfull=1#post161464))

Same recommendation. Used the same brackets, except I put down a full steel plate under the seat, not just a rail. Rails are easier IMHO.

Why the plate over rails, Mike? I didn't want the weight of a full, thick, steel plate more than I needed.

Safety.
There was a pretty horrible accident at a track near me a few years back on a track day event. A track prepped car lost control on a straight, went over an embankment and landed on a fence rail. The passenger was partially impaled - very gruesome & unfortunate. The car had a cage, but didn't do anything to help a freak event coming up from underneath.
We all take lessons from this kind of thing (every thinking person who tracks regularly); so, for me it was a no brainer to add about 30 lbs of steel to the lowest part of the car. I'll build up the side protection as I transition the car to more of a track vehicle, but it was an easy thing to address at the early stage of the build.
