View Full Version : Glass hatch Hass a safety issue?

I ordered a retrofit gglass hatch for my coupe a few weeks ago, and had not heard or recieved an email about shiipping. I spoke to a live person when I ordered it. I called just to check on it and was told by the salesperson ( I do not remember his name) "There is a safety issue with the hatch ." The salesperson did not know what the problem was, when it would be resolved , and I would have to reorder when thce issue is resolved. ???? There has been no mention of a delay nor have I been notified of a delay. Dave is usually great at communicating with us . Does anyone know anything. Dave?

There was an issue with glass hatches breaking into large, sharp pieces. Happened to several folks, so FFR recalled all 40 hatches that had been shipped. They are addressing this issue but it will take some time. This is Dave Smith's very timely response:

I know this will be a disappointment to most, but as Dave said in his post, Safety is the main concern. It will take time, I won't venture a guess, because it will probably be wrong. FFR will get us the correct part, just be patient.

Most likely explanation is that FFR got hosed by their supplier, who probably got hosed by their Chinese manufacturing "partner". It might take a while to sort it out. FFR won't sell anything until they know it is safe, and even if only 3 or 4 were defective, the whole run is on hold until the facts are in.
