I must admit thinking out of the box on my build causes a HUGE load of decisions to take down the road. I always have many questions I usually find answers for by myself or the forum (tnx to so many of you!!!!!), but we haven't seen many pictures of the humps deck lid close enough for me to guess on one critical measure.

It's actually a very important one for me as I have to decide between 3 costly options:

- Buying a potentially lower 830 bucks billet cam cover (see below);
- Doing some kind of fiberglass body work myself which will certainly end up very bad and cost me a lot anyway;
- Paying many 100s someone to do the body work for me.

The VR6 is high compared to the WRX, of course, and I am looking at the precise clearance I am allowed at the top. I know the humps panel has a 2 or 2-1/4 clearance by itself at the front between the humps and over the top 1.5" square tube, but once that panel is installed, is it installed at the same level as the top of the 1.5 tube or higher?

On the below picture, how high over the 1.5 tube sits the red line? That's the right question.

Yes, that's exactly it!! :)
I'll use Pete's number as I have no idea how different things may be on the R, like you said.

Tnx so much for confirming that number, you have no idea how important it is for me this week. :)

Frank, the exact height may vary on how you shape the aluminum block-off panel - the piece with 2 humps. And, how you fit the sides of the humped engine panel. You could probably make this 2.25" to 3.5", or maybe more.

Even greater! Tnx for the clarification, I thought there would be 1/8 of play each way but up to 1.25" total that should be enough for me to fit the engine in and have nice heatshielding inside the humps and flat section. I'll know about that this week.
