Hey folks, we're planning on driving several western NC/east TN roads the first weekend in October. Rain date is the third weekend in October. Hope we can get as many cars as we had last September. Itinerary as follows:
Friday - Meet at Love's Travel Stop at Marion NC at 1130 for gas and a break, located on I-40 at Exit 86. Proceed up to Little Switzerland for lunch at Switzerland Cafe & General Store, then on to Asheville. Numerous motels and restaurants are available on I-40 at Exit 44. Make your own arrangements. This day includes driving the Diamondback and the Devil's Whip.
Saturday - Meet at Cracker Barrel at Exit 44 for breakfast at 0800. Proceed west and stop for gas at Great Smokey Mountains Bait and Tackle Shop on US-74, then on to the parking lot/visitor center at Lake Fontana Dam. Leave at 11:00 for the Dragon. Lunch in Tellico Plains, TN. Best choice is Tellico Kats Deli east of town. Continue east on Cherohala Skyway to Bryson City. Numerous motels and restaurants are available in the area. Make your own arrangements.
Sunday - Return home by way of your own choosing.
Hope you folks in TN, SC, and central NC can join in.
