I was told you could put the MK4 roll bar on older FFR's with a little push/pull. Anyone tried a retrofit?

I'm putting one on my Mk3.1 - late Oct '09 kit. FFR recommended to bore out the ID of the stock rollbar mount stubs (I used a brake hone) and sure enough, it fit without any issues.

Here's a shot before I did the fitting and one of a side-by-side comparison of the old and new bar off the car - amazing how big the 2" bar looks! No recent shots, but I used an air grinder and sandpaper to completely smooth the weld, then sent it to Kerr West Plating in Phoenix to have it chromed - it looks awesome now.

I see your new roll bar 3rd leg is much longer than the old one. Did you have to cut off any? I really like the look of the smaller roll bar. Do you live in PHX?

Not any longer, just an optical illusion. Sorry, I live in the Chicago area. It was plated out at Kerr West, though, in Phoenix. You may want to contact them and see if they have any laying around as they do a bunch of FFR rollbars for people.
