Hey all. I have an R that I plan on streeting eventually, which means I need to keep the windshield mount.
First thing's first; here's the manual's depiction of the big mount that is on my R frame (#230). As you can see, half of the mount is for doors, the other half is for windshield.

As you can see below, I have that mount:

The problem with that mount, other than the weight, is that it hits my door. The S door is open in the front:

And mine is not (yet):

Before I go hacking things to bits, I wanted to run my plan by the fine folks on here to catch any stupid mistakes before I make it. My plan is:
Cut away the half of the steel mount on the frame that's used for doors
Slot the door enough to fit through the remainder of the steel mount for the windshield
Anyone see another way to do this? My doors simply don't fit as is; they hit this mount. I'm thinking this is because I did fenders before door. My logic with that is that I didn't (still don't) care if I have to hack up the doors, but I wanted to unbiasedly get my fenders to fit the "best" way on the frame (considering headlights, rear fender mount, and front hood placement). I didn't want the door becoming my guide and making a worse line anywhere up front that I didn't -have- to have.
