So, I'm trying to figure out front end/fender/hood alignment and am running into an issue.

It seems my driver side fender is further in and/or further up than my passenger side fender. At the current point, front fenders to rear fenders (or rocker panels, whatever) are good, wheel gap is good, headlight gap is pretty close, bumper is level and at an appropriate height, and the hood almost fits. However, the hood won't go down in the front due to the driver side fender. Here's a photo to illustrate:

I'm thinking the easiest solution is to trim down the "depth" of the hood on the pass side. This will help it sit flat. Anyone run into something like this? Any ideas or suggestions, short of starting headlight buckets over again and seeing if I can space the driver headlight a little further out?

At the end of the day, I don't care a ton about body lines being perfect. It -is- a race car, after all! ;)

I have the same issue and I will try trimming the depth of the hood. I'm just not sure how I will go about doing it.

Not sure what tool to use, you mean?

I was thinking a hand planer or hand sander only because a dremmel (what I've been using for the majority of the fiberglass work) is not as easily controlled for straight lines.

I ended up taking my lip almost all the way down to get it to fit properly.

I am working on the same thing. It appears your headlights are sitting pretty high. Mine had the same issues when I sat in buckets to pre fit. I think I'm going to have to use Bob in Cincy's headlight fitting process where you fit the light to the fiberglass and then fit the bucket to the light.

Almost every hood I've seen has been uneven left to right. Even the FFR cars.

I got my hood to fit between the bumper by sanding a bit (1/32 to 1/16) at the interference points.
I have not trimmed my hood returns yet.
If you support the bumper in the middle and let the ends hang down a bit. It opens the big gap for the hood to fit in.
I had all my front body panels clamped together and fit, before I drilled any mounting holes to the frame.

I also had all the same issues, I ended up bolting, clamping and taping the front end together off the frame then dropping it on. I'm still not completely satisfied but it came out much closer than I had it. My hood is still a bit crooked and I had to trim the rear hood points.
