What are the advantages/disadvantages of the J-Pipes vs. the 4x4 Headers when used with the Coyote 5.0 Engine? If it makes any difference, I plan to mate the engine to a Tremec TKO-600 and the 2015 Mustang GT IRS with 3.55 final drive ratio. I also want to use the stainless steel side pipes, but I want to add the Breeze Automotive Quiet pipes options with the slightly turned down ports. As always, Thank you for your insight.

Looking at my order documents, I don't think there was really a choice. You need the coyote straight tubes (15442) and the coyote headers with fasteners (33920). I'm sure someone who's completed a build will chime in, but this combination is what FFR recommended.

If you're going with the standard FFR setup for the Coyote, the referenced parts are correct. They work. Many though are going to an aftermarket header from http://stainlessheaders.eclipticcms.com/coyote. A little pricier, but by all accounts a better solution. The work is now being done by a company called GP Headers, but still the same product. I understand they are also available through Mike Forte, a forum vendor. I can't cite specific HP differences, but this pure straight tube approach is more efficient than a J-pipe setup. I'm planning to use these headers on my 20th Anniversary Roadster build.

For those of us who want and/or need to run cats, is the only option still to get the J pipes and have them modified? Does anyone offer or does anyone plan to offer a cat option for the coyote?

If running 4-into-4s prevents you from adding a crossover pipe, I'd think twice about running them. I couldn't drive my car for any appreciable distance without it causing pain in my left ear before I added the crossover (connecting the left and right side exhausts).

Started with J pipes and had a crossover made for it. Great exhaust note but the 4X4 provides more HP.

IMO you should wear ear plugs while driving these cars, no matter what exhaust setup.

An earlier reply mentioned Catalytic Converters. You may want to think about that possibility even if your state (or your wife) don't require them. They eliminate the pre-catalytic converter exhaust smell of the 60's and quiet the exhaust considerably with no noticeable difference in seat-of-the-pants feel as far as power. From the dyno runs I have seen on the Coyote, any reduction in horsepower would just mean you are less out of control.

Am using the FFR J-Pipes & so far so good. Engine is very strong with just a tune. Main thing is bad guy soubd with the throttle down but can steady cruise in 5th & it runs surprisingly quiet. Idle is also quiet unless you run the 427 solid lifter cam mod to the tune.
