I've been driving 7074 quite a bit lately, even as my daily driver for the past four days over the holiday weekend. As a result, I hit a new milestone the other day.

The more I drive this thing, the more I like it!!!

Congrats! Great isn't it? Coincidentally, my #7750 turned 1,000 miles yesterday returning from a club event. Didn't take a picture though.

Following is a copy & paste from other forum.

Congrats guys. 1/2 way there. Crossed 500 miles on a grocery run this afternoon.

Anything you would change from the original build?

I don't want to crash Chris's thread (more than I already did) but will respond briefly. Short answer, no, I wouldn't change a thing. Engine, transmission, PS, PB, 5-link, ride comfort, the way the interior is configured (dash, expanded footbox, pedals, etc.), everything perfect. It's an absolute pleasure to drive. The front end geometry with the new FF spindles and PS is amazing. If I could pick on one thing, it would be the sound system. Really not very useful.

My sound system is perfect, two side pipes sending the growl/howl from my SB Ford.

Let's save that for the yea or nay sound system threads. My side pipes sound just fine too, thank you very much, but we've officially taken this thread off topic. :(

Back to you Chris. Congrats again on your milestone.

Thanks guys - another 200 miles since the post... sitting at 1200 or so this morning. Time to wash the dead bugs off the windshield and go out for more rides.

Hi Chris,

Good to hear you are putting some serious mileage on the roadster. I find this one of the more curious things about the whole project. It's like you almost have to have an excuse to drive as this is not your DD. Some insurance companies discourage the use as a grocery hauler or routine use car. I see where they are coming from as most car accidents are close to home in those routine situations. My wife's only accident since I've known her was in the parking lot at work. The other thing is the length of trips. I took a friend's advice and lengthened the trips a little each week or so. I finally got the nerve to drive to HB. I will never forget that drive. Also, it's never been on a trailer. I don't know if that's just been dumb luck or what. I will probably find a need for a trailer before it's said and done but hopefully not because it broke down. Good luck on your adventures. BTW: have you installed some armor on the nose of your new roadster (protection for the new paint job)?

WEK.

Smiths - they are what the original cars often came with... although Stewart-Warner were also supplied on lots of them.

Ten weeks or so later and I thought I'd give an update. It was a great first summer with 7074... a little tuning and debugging were needed, but nothing too unexpected. With each minor adjustment or fiddling, it seemed to get better and better. As we enter the prime driving season here in the Midwest, this little car is just getting broken in.
