Sorry there could be lots of dumb questions while I try to figure stuff out!

I have the Willwood pedal assemble, but the clutch quadrant I have is in 5 parts, with another square plate, and a small round ended plate. There's no instructions, and that is poor. I watched Dan's video but that showed a one-piece quadrant. Has anyone else the same setup? There should be a long pin to mount the quadrant to?

Before you mess with that, I strongly recommend you ditch the whole thing and go Hydraulic. That's what the pedal box is designed for. I think you will find it much nicer in the end.
Fortes Parts sells a nice kit to make this change.

Mike do you have a link? I can't find it on his site.

You might be better to call him.

X2 on the hydraulic clutch. The clutch quadrant is poorly designed and will need periodic inspections for bending and bushing wear.

Since you are going to call Mike F. anyway, also, ask him about the quadrant kit he has. I don't know if he has quit selling it but that's what I'm using. It will work without any fear of bending or failure like the kit version. I have a MKIII so I did have to do some additional work on mine to make the "MKIV" design work but it is worth it for me. I'm guessing yours will be a bolt in and no additional work.

Good luck,

WEK.

Its making more sense now. FFR sent me an update. The new quadrant is made up of 5 pieces that sandwich over the end of the pedal - and no longer offset it with a pivot pin. I searched other hydraulic systems and its too much $$ for me right now. I suspect Mike F's version will be $500ish

Go with Mike F. hydraulic set up. Not cheap but worth it. I think I paid around $460 for mine. Google Forte's Parts Connection.

This video includes directions on how to assemble the 5-piece clutch quadrant assembly:

Will the 5 piece quadrant fit earlier MK-IV's?

Just watched the video. The new design looks to have fixed the problems the earlier design had. Good job FFR!

So assuming this quadrant has fixed previous problems, is it worth staying with a cable operated clutch? Or is hydraulic going to be better?

The new design puts all the force inline with the pedal, just like a hydraulic system. The difference now is the number of possible points of failure. You have only one with the mechanical system (cable). With hydraulic you have three (master cylinder, slave cylinder & lines). It's your choice.

Hydraulic will have slightly less effort due to reduced mechanical drag. How much? I don't know. But it's one of the cited advantages. Also hydraulic makes routing of the clutch cable a thing of the past. For some engine/header combinations, a cable is no big deal. But for others, it can be challenging. I have the Forte setup on my Mk4. Works great. It's not cheap. But I would use it again. As already stated, the Wilwood pedal box is designed for it. So it's a relatively easy installation.

I will be going with the Mike Forte kit once I am ready for it (and once I have the $$!). I didn't realize the kit is designed to work with the Wilwood pedal box. Sounds great.

Well, just to be clear... Mike's handiwork is on the slave cylinder side, including a mounting bracket to suit the transmission you're using (T5 or TKO), slave cylinder, pushrod, and pivot for the clutch arm. He will also sell you the SS braided cable with the proper ends already installed. On the Wilwood box side, it comes from the factory designed for a hydraulic clutch meaning a master cylinder mounting and pedal actuation. Mike has the right size Wilwood master cylinder. But the Wilwood footbox could be used with any other hydraulic setup on the slave side. Not just Mikes. Hope that makes sense...

Oh so if I purchase Mike's kit, I will have to purchase a master cylinder too? I thought it was a complete kit of parts. Or have I misread?

No, it's included in his complete setup. It's a standard Wilwood part. Sorry I wasn't more clear. The right combination of MC to slave is important. When I bought my MK4 setup a couple years ago, he was recommending Wilwood 1-1/8 inch MC and the CNC 7/8 inch slave cylinder. Nearly 1,000 miles in (as of the LCS just completed!) it works great.
