I went to a fairly large cruise night last Friday and had tons of favorable comments on my car - I left early, so don't know if I would have scored any hardware. There were lots of "is it real" questions, to which I've found my favorite answer is now: "absolutely not, it's fake... and I did almost all the work myself!!!" That seemed to lead to lots of great conversations.

But, one guy approached me, got really close, and almost whispered "this is real, right?" He introduced himself and said he owned the Contemporary replica that was parked not too far away. Our first few minutes of conversation were spent with me trying to convince him that my car is a replica, too. At first, he even said he understood that I didn't want people to know it's real because they're worth so much.... I'm not sure he ever believed me that it's an FFR.

Had a huge crowd around it for the time I was there - and everyone stopped in their tracks as I belted in and fired it up to cheers.

I'm really liking this car!!!

Chris, Had I not followed your build thread I too would be fooled if I saw in person. What a great feeling!

That's not hard to believe at all. You spent so much time going a little further than most people would not only in the research but in the actual execution of the projects that most people are not going to examine it three or four layers into the inspection to verify it's "not original". I think you have them after a few seconds of looking for tell tale signs of kit car give aways. Funny story!

WEK.

If you can touch it, it's real in my book.
