Some time ago I purchased a built F5 MkI roadster. I was told the front end was from an '89 Mustang and it has power steering.
PROBLEM: For me, the steering is too fast meaning only a slight turn of the steering wheel turns the car immediately. I cannon "dive" into corners without feeling that I will spin or flip the car. I never raced a car with PS and the cars I did race (Sardini, Lotus, Mini Cooper, '66GT350, Austin-Healey) were non-PS and had a "heavier" feeling in the steering and I felt like I had complete control of the steering at speed up to and through a corner.
Not so with the Factory 5 Mk.I.
Not too long ago I was researching the problem and I hit some comments either here on on SAAC's Forum about a similar problem.
One solution, not too widely favored was to adjust the ratio of the PS. I remember the poster(s) saying it could only be adjusted a little...and others saying it cannot be adjusted at all.
The apparent solution was reset the alignment and probably having to replace a threaded piece of the tie rods(?) to get the desired setting. They gave alignment settings that had seemed to work for them as well as one of posters even having a picture of that threaded sleeve and a part number which was available from an aftermarket supplier like Summit.
I know what you all are thinking...should have printed it all out. Well, I did, Gave to the guy who does a lot of work on the car who promptly lost it.
So, can anyone help me find that info again?
