Bill could launch new American classic car industry (http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2015/06/17/bill-could-launch-new-american-classic-car-industry/)
The article from Foxnews is talking about a bill that would allow small companies to build up to 500 classic cars per year with fewer regulations.

Here is the full text. Interesting stuff, but seems FFR would have to jump through a lot of hoops. There is also an annoying reference to dealers, so I wonder if they would get stuck trying to sell through independent dealerships or have to fight the fight that Tesla is working through.

It seems to me this clause would be a huge (and costly) hurdle:
"(ii) is manufactured under a license for the product configuration, trade dress, trademark or patent for the motor vehicle that is intended to be replicated from the original manufacturer, its successors or assignees, or current owner of such rights, unless there is a preponderance of evidence that such rights have been abandoned for at least three years."
It been a long time since I read the summaries of the old Shelby lawsuits, but I wonder how this would apply.

The way I read it, FFR would NOT be able to produce the GTM, Hotrod(?) or 818. They could produce the Type 65 Coupe, 289 and Roadster.
Interesting. Would they be able to produce 500 of each model, or overall? With all the liability associated with recalls, the potential for liability lawsuits, etc, I wonder if FFR would be interested in this?

Wouldn't the Hotrod also be considered a replica of the '33 Ford?
And since Dave Smith posted this thread last year http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?15054-House-Committee-Passes-Low-Volume-Replica-Car-Bill I'm guessing he has at least a passing interest in trying to produce a few cars.
