This may be self evident but is it necessary to add extension length to the neutral position switch? It seems necessary to me (donor: 2007 5sp Manual Turbo) but there was no mention of it in the manual. Any insight?

If you mean extend the wires to the neutral switch on the left side of the transmission, then probably yes. This depends upon the routing of your wiring to the engine compartment.

Yup, and I extended my speed sensor ("older" trannys have speed sensors on the gears instead of through ABS) as well. I can take pics if you're curious about routing but there are tons of options to follow the frame back up front. I probably added 55-60" to them.

Do we even need the neutral switch? I want to remove it but am not sure how the ECU uses it. I want to modify my shift linkage and it is in the way. (07 wrx)

I know the factory ecu disables the AVCS when in neutral.
My tuner at Turn In Concepts says you need it.
