I showed the premium soft top for the MKIV to my wife. She loves the idea. Now she wants air conditioning in this thing! It is going to be 108 here Sunday, and 115 is not far off, so it's not as crazy as it sounds. How difficult is it to squeeze all the AC stuff under the hood? Where do you put the air registers on the dash? What is left on the car when the top is removed? Does the soft top have side curtains? Has onyone done this and could you provide pictures? Thanks to all.

Do you know if that's essentially the GenIV or the GenIII system? The GenIV has a lot more interesting option for control than the GenIII...

Vintage stopped making the AC unit. Jeff is in the process of finding another supplier or manufacturer. I was picking up some parts at his shop.
The vents for the Whitby A/C units are mounted on the 2 x 2 frame member behind the dash and are out of sight. But it will remain to be seen how the new unit Whitey is working on will turn out.
Just to clarify, Whitey Motorcar makes a system that uses Vintage Air parts and it looks like VA will no longer supply those parts which may change how the unit is layed out.

I would call Vintage Air.

They have a LOT of systems so I am sure they can come up w/ something that will work. It looks to me like they are updating their systems so they dropped the cobra unit as it is old school tech. This primarily affects the box on the firewall and how temp is controlled and how air flow is controlled. The compressor and condenser will be pretty much the same. The original system had a real nice bracket that hangs from the front of driver side head. It had the compressor on top and a PS pump from a 99 Explorer underneath. I would imagine that would still exist.
