I have a Saginaw style power steering pump that I am using with a Mustang II PS rack. For those of you who have this type of set up can you provide any tips on plumbing the low pressure return lines?

I have some nice braided hose I purchased from Mark at Breeze that I would like to use. However the hose diameter is too small to fit over the barbed fitting coming from the pump. I was going to simply attach a short length of black 3/8" tubing to the pump fitting, then run a barbed hose end from the braided line into the 3/8" tubing. But that seems a bit clunky to me. I did find a site offering a compression fitting for the Saginaw but that would require cutting the nipple end off the pump fitting, plus that also looked a bit clunky.

Any thought would be appreciated.

Here's a pic of the pump with the curved fitting:

I installed a GM Type II pump, with remote reservoir in my MK IV. I used the bracket that Mark Reynolds at Breeze sells. Worked like a champ. I did have it polished and it looks as good as it functions. If you PM me I will send you a photo. I also plumbed in to a remote reservoir. My pump is from Flaming River. From what I can gather these pumps are lower pressure than the stock Mustang/Ford items and usually do not need Heidt's valves or the springs cut. I have only go carted but really like the feel. If your hose is too small to fit a 3/8 tube, I think it is too small to use anyway. I suspect that hose is meant to be used on the high pressure side only. I would get the proper size hose. You only need about 3 feet of it. You could get a braided hose and those fake AN ends that camouflage a hose clamp.
