Have about a quarter inch of slop in my steering. The steering linkage is tight all the way to the rack so it appears that the slop is inside rack mechanism itself. Is that normal or expected? Words of wisdom are always greatly appreciated.

I think I remember someone else ran into this recently and it turned out to be slop in the connection between the steering wheel and the hub itself. The bolts had loosened over time. Suggest starting off by popping off the horn/cap and checking all connections there.

Double check all of the connections between the steering wheel and the rack, I would bet that it disappears.

Thanks for the input. I will double check.

I have checked every joint. I was able to tighten down the steering wheel a bit which helped. The rest of the slop comes from cumulative movement in each of the U-joints. I have the coyote kit installed which adds a couple U-joints to route the linkage around the massive heads on the engine. Unless I am missing something I think it is what it is and I will have to live with it.
