Oh my. Hmmmm.... Got the 15th Anni already. Might be time to sell the MKIII and grab a 20th Anni!

LOVE the silver powdercoated frame (I did the panels to match)!

I have spousal approval (don't ask me about the negotiation, beyond my agreement to use an automatic transmission), my 14-year old daughter is ready to help, and I am finding every excuse to add to my already decent tool collection. Does the fact that I bought the MkIV Manual last year make me "an existing Factory Five Customer"? ... Please? :)

Frankly, no. These are set aside for previous builders. It was the same for the 15th Anniversary cars.

You can get basically the same car, it just won't have the badging or powdercoated panels and silver frame.

:)

PS Welcome to the forum! Do you have a build plan in mind yet? Maybe create a thread in the intro forum to introduce yourself and talk about what your plans are...

I currently have a kit on order, but I really just wish I could get the silver powder coated frame on mine. Any chance I can have my kit added to the silver powder coating?

Unfortunately no. The silver powdercoat is EXCLUSIVE to the Anniversary cars. I you like the silver, order the kit in plain steel and have it powdercoated after delivery. This actually is a good way to go because then you can match your panels exactly. My panels are a little lighter; FFR would not give me the exact color code for the silver.

The powder coating run of silver was just for the 20 Anniv. chassis and we can't offer them separately. The 20th anniv car is going to have some things we've not done before, primarily the new 2015 Mustang IRS set-up. We spent the winter in design and testing down at NCCAR track. Very excited about this new package. Last time I had reserved the first annive car for myself and then ended up giving it to a very good customer. This time I had the car built so that I couldnt sell the kit. My plan is to give this one to my son Adam years from now.

I remember this! I got frame 2 of 15 because you were reserving #1.

:)

PS does this mean we are down to 19? Actually, 18 because of the raffle car?

PPS What motor did you put in?

So, is the plan to roll the 2015 IRS into the standard MkIV?

I have no authority to answer for FFR but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't go through the whole design process for that just to put it in 20 cars...

OK, you guys are officially killing me. I was about to pull the trigger on a 289 using the 50/50 sale unless a better deal came along with the daily anniversary sales. Now this! The 20th anniversary Mk4 looks awesome. I may need to make this my third build instead. I have a feeling the 19 (18?) available will go quickly. I will be watching the details next Friday very closely and be ready to make my move. It would be an honor to do one of these. If the weather is promising, we will be on the road to the open house. So I may be calling from the side of the road!

On a related note, at the Detroit Autorama earlier this year, Ford had the new Mustang displayed on it's side, plus another separate display for the new IRS. I looked at both very carefully, wondering if it just might be a replacement for the harder and harder to source current FFR donor IRS design. My initial impression is that it's pretty complicated. I will be very interested to see just what FFR does with this.

Saw the car last week when I picked up my kit, absolutely gorgeous, tasteful without being overdone.
Paint color is unique, irs will be pricey since eveything is new.

Dave,
Do you want to adopt a son? I've already graduated from college and I've been working 25 years, so you don't have to worry about college tuition or some deadbeat guy wanting to move "back home." Plus, you'd get 2 great kids as grandchildren!

You just have to promise me that I'll get chassis #1 of the 25th anniversary car.

I wanted to get back to you because I've spoken to Dave Smith and he is open to selling the anniversary car to new customers, so if you are interested I'd give FFR a call today to get your name in.

Sorry I didn't have the correct answer for you, I was going off the info I had at the time.

Give them a call!

EdwardB, if anyone should be doing the 20th anniversary edition, it is you!! Your attention to detail, your commitment to quality, and your genuine love of the vehicle should put you at the head of the line. Don't think! Do it!! You know you were going to do it anyway, so do this very special edition model. You can count on the rest of us to stand behind your decision and root you on. Of course, you are on your own with the financial aspects and explaining a third project to your wife!!😀.

Wish I could be at the open house this weekend, but 6000+ miles is a bit much for a weekend drive. Enjoy the event. Pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks for all you do! Jazzman

Thanks for the very kind words. I'm in. Placed the order yesterday. Should be a great project. I'll be at the open house today to see it in person.

I will be very interested to see how quickly they go. They said the phone started ringing as soon as the details went on the web. Including from me.

No chance to get somebody on the phone today... But in the order form the 20years anniversay MK4 is still online.
So I submit my order and hope I'm in the 19 (18). Long time wasn't so excided - and more excitement will come I guess...

@Edward: very cool to know you start over again! Congratulations and I'm looking forward to learn even more from your third build...
