What harness do you have? Donor? Ron Francis? Something else? If it's Ron Francis, I have a new headlight switch I'm not using.

I think the one for the Ron Francis harness is actually a GM switch. I modified mine by replacing the knob with a reproduction '65 - '66 Mustang part.

I have a GM switch and the plug on the harness does not fit it. The harness was supplied by FF5 and was made by Ron Francis but many of the connectors have to be cut off so as to fit the Autometer gauges

Did you get a base kit or complete kit? If a complete kit, the headlight switch should be there. If a base kit, FFR sells the switch. http://www.factoryfiveparts.com/headlight-switch/ Or you can buy one at most part stores. ACDelco D1588 or equivalant.

You shouldn't have to be cutting off connectors for the gauge kit. Whether Autometer or Speedhut, the RF harness doesn't include the actual connectors to the gauges. Just bare wires, that are marked, then you need to connect.

I received a partial complete kit that was setting on the shipping floor and shipped the next week someone else must have ordered and choked it had the IRS rear end and the wiring for a fuel injected donor motor. I have a GM light switch so like everything else on this morphadite build I will modify what I have. Also, with the GM switch I will be able to use the dome lite to turn on my radiator fan which eliminates one switch from the dash.

The dome light function is the detent after the knob is rotated all the way around. It completes a ground circuit, so technically could be used for the radiator fan. I guess... But this same knob rotation is adjusting the brightness of your dash lights if the headlight switch is pulled, assuming you wire the switch and dash as designed. It also assumes you don't want the switch to control what it's intended for. Interior lights. Many of us use that function for footwell lights, something you and your passengers will appreciate at night.

We talk all the time about making the build your own. This is a first. Good luck.

This switch will ground the fan when the lights are turned off

Right. I was trying to point out that same knob also adjusts your dash brightness when the headlight switch is pulled on. An odd combination IMO and something I've never seen before. Just saying. But do what you want. I'm out.

Unless you are using a relay in the fan circuit, the ground contact may not handle the current needed for the fan and it will complicate the wiring. If you are wanting a simpler dash, why not eliminate the fan switch all together. Chances are that if you need the fan and it's not on, the switch won't make it come on due to some other problem.

Was a time when the dash light dims were on the main switch in all cars. Clicking past a detent would turn on the interior lights with the doors closed.
