I remember someone posting a coffee can cover that fit perfect over the blower motor when not in use. Also make sure your water valve is closing when the heater is off.

Yep! You need to cover the blower motor....also, you can turn the ball vents to a fully closed position...da Bat

Walt,

The shutoff valve that is supplied doesn't completely close off the water flow. You need to plumb in a manual ball valve that will completely close off the water flow. Made a big difference in my coupe.

I put an inline cut off in the supply side and that cured the warm air issue. Now i have a nice feed of cooler air when i'm driving.

I closed the under-dash vents and that helped somewhat, but doing that just diverted it to the demist vents. I'm planning on making a cover/plug for the heater blower motor intake, which should stop just about all the airflow.

You could get the Vintage air vacuum shutoff valve assembly so you could turn off the hot air coming through the heater core. I think that Summit sells all the vintage air parts
This way from your seat you can turn off the flow of hot water to the heater and on a misty evening turn it back on as needed.

Old Air Products has a nice electric bypass valve that I used: http://www.oldairproducts.com/catalog/heater-cores/50-1555/heater-valve-p-3667.html

Thanks for the suggestions ,I think this is warm air being forced thru the heater from over the motor and so it does get very warm ,I will look at the plug for the side of the blower .

Thanks again for the help!

The blower is in the engine compartment?

Hi Dale, yes the blower mounts on the engine side of the fire wall, it draws air in from its side with the blower motor on the other side, the opening for it to draw air is right over and behind the engine.

Walt, mine's a bit different; both blower and motor are between the firewall and the dash (Vintage Air) probably due to the AC.

I have the electric water valve & you still need to plug the blower opening in the summer.
