Thought I'd mention the annual Wicked Big Meet than happens Sunday the 7th at the Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT. This is a half-hour N-E of Hartford. There is an autocross, but the main attraction will be the many cars being shown and the vendors.
You'll get to see lots of cool parts and how people have modified their Subarus. You can get ideas and recommendations which you can then apply to your 818.
I know I and other 818 owners will attend.

We should be there with our 818! We will be in the EFI Logics area. Anyone else bringing their 818?

Are you trying to get it skinned for the event? Looking forward to seeing it. Are you going to "model"?

I'd much rather they pay attention to the car and ask me about its volumetric efficiency :)
Yup, body will be on for next weekend. Probably not beautiful yet and possibly partially removed for showing also.

It was great getting to meet other 818 builders, and Subie enthusiasts alike! Lots of curiosity about the car. It definitely brought the crowds into EFI Logics' booth.
Here's a photo from the end of the day when we could see the car again:

For anyone who missed Wicked Big Meet this year, you should definitely try to make it next year!

Looks like it was a good one. I have owned Subarus for 10 years and still never been to a WBM.. seems like something always comes up... maybe next year.

There was a lot of interest in Andrew and Tamra's 818!
This was my first WBM and as a wickedly old man I can say I was impressed by the attendance. Six thousand+ I believe. Just leaving at noon was not easy because people were still pouring in.
If you go I highly recommended paying the additional $15 for early admission at 9AM. By noon it was hard to just walk and see things at the vendors booths. There is the autocross to get you out of the main arena. The packed sea of humanity was not exactly my idea of fun.
By 11:30 we were done. We'd seen everything, talked to people, made our purchases. Two guys bought the new KB vent valve. Then, like swimming upstream, we jostled our way to the exit.

Did you yell, "Hey you kids, get off mah lawn!"

I did raise an eyebrow at some of the attire and loud music. I yelled, "Turn down that damn music! Do you think I'm deaf?"
Don't get me wrong... I just don't have much patience for mobs of people and standing in line if I can help it.
It is a great event for the youngish Subie crowd and especially the uninitiated. Lots of bargains and lots of ideas for the builders/customizers.

Hehe, I'm just giving you a hard time. I'm only 39 yet sometimes feel 70 when it comes to crowds, sounds, and lines. My wife pokes fun at me for it.

Michael and I are going to NOPI Nationals this weekend in Savanna GA. We will check out the crowd and let you know our findings.

I had fun at the WBM and enjoyed talking to other 818 builders. Loved Brian's red car w outer door handles & Del Sol side mirrors. Did anyone else see the Subie in the parking lot w the top half of a shopping cart on the roof rack. That's a red neck way to carry stuff.
