I have the steering rack that came with the complete kit. Non powered. If I install the steering shaft to the rack and align the set screw in the splined adapter with the flat on one side or the drilled divot on the other I am still off by 1/4 turn of the steering wheel. With it installed per the manual I get nearly two full turns in one direction putting the tire into the F Panel and just over 1 and 1/4 turns in the other direction.

With the tires aligned and the steering wheel aligned with the splined adapter clocked off by 1/4 turn everything is perfect but the set screw does not end up on the flat or the recessed hole on the opposite site. Hope this makes sense. I can not seem to figure out where I went wrong with this. I thought I had this perfect once.

that half round slot is for the donor mustang joint that uses a bolt to sandwich the whole thing together. Even if the bolt comes loose it will stay together. You should be able to put the spline wherever you need it and lock it down. I would lightly tighten the set screw to make a mark then take it apart and drill a dimple for the set screw.

Whoa. Said the same thing over on the other forum. (Of course with many more words. That's just what I do apparently.) Glad to see an experienced builder like Mike agrees with what I did.

Greatly appreciate the responses. I thought for sure I had something wrong. I could not figure out why the heck the one side of the input shaft was cut so deep anyways. The through bolt explains it. I already have it marked for the new set screw dimple and will drill/grind the spot as suggested.

Getting ready for first start and go cart this weekend. This is one of my last item on the list and will take care of it when I get home from work.
