20 years ago in 1995, I placed this advertisement which would launch a new company called Factory Five Racing and a new idea, namely that of using Mustang donor running gear to build a modern C-car replica. In order to kick off our 20 days of celebrations for 20 years in business, we are offering five (5) base Mk4 Roadster kits at the original 1995 price of $9,900! This is a strictly first come, first served offer, and is limited to five total kits.
Orders must be placed by phone with a Factory Five Technical Support Team Member. Call us at 508-291-3443.

Dave, That is a wonderful way to kick this off. I do remember seeing that ad in one of the magazines and thinking "one day". Good for me it was just a few years later. Kudos to you and your team!

What-a-deal! I remember it like it was yesterday... well, maybe last month. ;)
That was quite a time.... Newly married, recently purchased our first house. Can't remember how I fell in love with the C- car but I just remember lusting over them. We had started looking around for a kit that we could build.
I has almost dropped the $ on a Shell Valley but decided to purchase their assembly video first. Honestly, I nearly got sick when I saw how it was made and the fact I had nearly spent serious money blindly on a dream.
Back to the drawing board... I saw the ad Dave posted in a magazine and wondered... how do they fit a cobra body on a mustang chassis?? Seriously, that was my first thought.. haha. I decided to call anyway(back then Dave and Mark answered the phone ;)) and learned that it was a tubular chassis and there was a person who recently took delivery of a kit in Half Moon Bay CA. His name was Cliff... I think he was one of Dave's favorite people ever!
We made a trip up there to see what this kit was about and literally within 60 seconds, I knew we were IN... The frame was a work of art.
We ordered the kit and waited for delivery. Cliff was kind enough to allow us to have the kit and donor delivered to his shop.
In two days, two guys with the help from our gals had the entire suspension, engine, trans, rear-end, tires and wheels installed along with all the aluminum that would allow us to leave the engine in when we got it home. What a weekend!
Dave, if you dont mind I’lll post a couple pictures from that day...

3 months later we were driving her sans paint.
FFR started a legacy that continues to this day… Its been really fun seeing the company grow. Congrats on your success Dave and team...
Congrats to those 5 who paid the 20-years-ago price and got an even better product... You're in for quite an adventure!

It says a lot about a company and it's leadership when talented key players like Jim and Jesper are still around 20 years later. Same for early/long time/repeat customers like the Bordens, John Phillips, Mike Everson, Henry Renaud, myself and so many others.
Congrats on 20 :)
