Cooling fan problem

just got to the motor started point and a problem came up with the cooling fan. As soon as I connect the battery the fan comes on and when I turn the key to run it goes off. I am using the RF harness with a thermal switch in the thermostat housing. I assume the switch provides a ground for the fan relay so I disconnected the switch, fan still runs.

Any ideas? This has me puzzled

Check the relay is wired correctly, I had a relay that was mis-wired on the RF harness mine happened to be the horn.

I appreciate the help. Got the meter out and figured out I had the coil/tach wire and the temp switch wire swapped. Alls good. Thanks again
