Today I went on my first go cart drive around the block. Before I could take my first test drive, I had a few issues like a bad Optima battery, clutch plate sticking to the pressure plate and TKO500 transmission syncros sticking. After posting all my problems on the forum, all my problems were resolved. I can always count on the experience of all the guys that respond to my posts on the forum. Oh getting back to my first drive. It was great! The car shifted smooth with the clutch engaging perfectly. The brakes worked fine for the slow speed I was going (25 to 30 mph). I was surprised how easy the car steered for manual steering. I was a happy camper. Now I can start working on getting the body. I plan to put filler behind all the wheel wells for strength and cover the underside with black truck bed liner material. After that is install the body on the chassis. Working on the body will be a completely different phase of the build.

Congrats on your mile stone Bob! we are about the same phase of the build. I will also be applying Herculiner roll on product to the underside of the body.
