I had been pondering a solution to a problem I have, and that is how to get my hand up behind the dash and fasten the wing nuts and washers to the studs holding the top down on the body. I have heat/AC and a megasquirt efi and spark control computer, lots of wires, and the starter solenoid mounted there, not to mention the brake and clutch master cylinders and reservoirs. Also, installing the gauges and getting the wiring hooked up with was a real pain in the anatomy! Oh, yeah, then there's the wiper motor to install and hook up.
I have been studying the photos of dashes and saw that some people had dash panels installed that allowed large holes to be cut in the fiberglass dash area - aha!!
Research led me to Tim Whittaker's [http://www.kootenaivalleycustoms.com/] business. He has a full dash panel of 3000 series aluminum that is cut to shape and shipped in a fabricated shipping container. While only clamped in place so far, it is apparent that the piece fits perfectly and will do what I need, especially allowing installation of my gauges, indicator lights, and AC controls before putting it on.
Also, while I have no connection to Kootenai Valley Customs, I've got to say that dealing with Tim is first rate and I will look to his business first if I need anything else.
