Hi everyone, I was finishing putting my 818 together last weekend, and I ended up dropping something on my windshield, and needless to say it's pretty messed up. I was wondering what i would have to do for a replacement? Is it an existing car windshield i can just go to a glass place and have them replace? Thanks in advance.

I just went through this today. My installer broke it while installing. I called FF and they said they have them in stock if you want to buy from them, or use a 1999 to 2007 Toyota MR2 windshield. Since the installer is paying for it, he's not buying from Factory Five.

If you get it from factor five, they put a little logo on it ;)

Got my 2000 MR2 Spyder windshield installed this morning. Does anyone else think it doesn't quite fit right...

The top corners sit really deep and really shallow at the center. It was also wide enough that it barely fit in the opening, I couldn't fit any trim around the glass.

Jaime, did you store the windshield frame upside down on the floor by any chance (without the glass in it)? Mine spent a few months like that and the fiberglass warped inward at the top, like yours. I'm now letting it sit supported only in the center and it seems to have settled back to a nicer shape (less gap from glass to frame all around). Otherwise, your picture looks ok, the fit isn't noticeably bad.

My frame was stored near vertical with the steel mounting points on the ground and leaning against a wall. I'm OK with my fit, but if the FF glass is flatter, it would be better.

I seem to recall that the one they broke on Tuesday was curved the same as the frame, but I could be wrong. The bottom corners on this one are really tight - they are touching the fiberglass. I'm almost positive the FF glass didn't touch.

BTW, SafeLite did mine as I couldn't be happier with the service I got from them.

Here's a wider shot:

Mine was stored in the same way as yours, leaning against a wall. I also had a flat spot. When the windshield was glued in, i placed a clamp in the middle to make it more or less flush with the frame. I also had the small "h" rubber trim installed around the perimeter. I know its not good to put anything in under pressure but im hoping that the fiberglass reshaped to fit over time.

We pressed ours into shape using a 2x4 on the ground through the chassis, and a spreader clamp to "adjust" the middle to be closer, until the urethane cured overnight. Lots of tape, clamping, etc.

So, now that you guys are at this point, what would you have done differently when storing it? I currently have mine leaning against the outside of the windshield/surround with the mounting points in the air...I have left it in exactly the same configuration as was shipped to me. Windshield is still taped in to the fiberglass.

Re storage, I thought I was smart by making 2 short chains & S-hooks to hang the windshield by the steel arms with the glass taped in as received. One morning I entered the garage and saw the glass on the floor! The duct tape holding the glass had come loose but it must have loosened slowly and lowered the glass because the glass was not broken or chipped after dropping 3 feet! My garage in the AZ desert is probably hotter than yours, but consider yourself warned.

It gets pretty hot here in Memphis, but certainly not Africa hot. Actually, mine is sitting on the carpeted floor--top of the windshield frame down with the glass still taped in it. I guess I am concerned about warping of the frame and how to avoid it so I don't end up with the same issues as Jaime and Kurk. Or is it just going to be the nature of this beast?

I honestly think my issue was the windshield, not the frame. If my recollection is correct, the one that they broke on Tuesday fit perfectly. Even if I curved the top more, my lower corner gaps are still too small to fit molding in.
