Roughly 500 miles into the car and the transmission started dripping fluid at the seam between the tail shaft housing and the main gear case. I tried removing the trans. from the car and as I'm sure others have found it's no easy task. After getting the damned thing stuck but good I found that it's best to remove the bell housing and take the trans / bell housing down at the same time but in two pieces....
This morning I called Tremec and asked what anaerobic sealer they recommend since nobody seems to know what ET-M29 is and where to find it (listed in the manual). The suggested sealer is Loctite 518. So I asked the support guy at Tremec if they've seen case leaks like this before and he said "not lately"....... Apparently they use a printer head that is computer controlled to apply the VERY thin layer of sealant at Tremec, and sometimes it gets out of alignment, spec., what have you. Son of a B....!
I hate to say it but if you've got a new one in the box you might consider re-sealing the unit before you get it in the car. I also pulled the front bearing retainer and re-sealed that, might as well cover all the bases if it's on the bench anyway....
