View Full Version : Prop rod idea for 818 engien cover

Found a decent prop rod for the 818 Engine cover using my hinges. I got this from another project I just picked up. It a Pontiac Fiero front trunk prop. Its a locking collapsible design. Works pretty good.

Will that clear the aluminum that is installed within the humps?

Not sure what aluminum your talking about. I have all mine installed, I think.

The only other sheet metal not shown is this, right?
I don't see these last two pieces getting in the way.

You are correct. I did not notice it has been already installed.

Can you explain how to mount the support to the frame and the hood?

I used a 90 degree bracket at the frame side. I removed the bracket that was on it from the factory. On the body side I used the eisting bracket and bonded 2 studs to the under side of the engine cover. They studs can be found at McMaster-Carr part number 93865A220
