Have people installing the rear splash panels been able to get reasonable positioning and clearances without trimming?
I've only been at it for an hour or so, but it looks like I'm going to need to make a little room for my coil-overs and probably the upper trailing arm links as well.

I didn't have to trim. I felt mine was too short at the back where it attaches to the body though.

Agree its too short.in the rear. I had to trim to clear the rear bumper/side sail seam and trimmed the front lower corner slightly to clear the wheel arch. I have a few pics in my build thread.

I trimmed a bit and the bottom rear is too short as well

I agree, the outer splash panel portion that attaches to the bumper is too small. I think there's enough to mount it, but it takes a bit of effort to get it in place. The part that I am most worried about is the flat inner panel that comes very close to my upper trailing link, as you can see in this image.

I'm afraid that it will contact the panel at the first bump and shear off the rivets that hold the panel to the frame. I guess I'll just trim a space out of the aluminum, but I wanted to check first to see if it's a common issue - or perhaps that I need to try harder to position the panels better.

I've experienced the same things.
The rear splash guard is too short.
The cut out for the body panel seam is too high, you have to cut out some sheet metal out below the existing relief.
I also cut some inner fender at the rear outer corner to fit the fiberglass body better.
I set my inner fender up as high as possible to clear all of the suspension pieces, and my brake line goes through the same area.
Its crazy how much time these little things take up.

Also, my left/right sides weren't the same. The passenger side has better clearance on the shock than the driver for whatever reason.

OMG! Mine too! I was too embarrassed to say that my problems with fit were asymmetrical. I didn't want people to know that my car build is not perfectly symmetrical. LOL.
